Laboratory of Neuropsychopharmacology

 

 

 

 

Welcome To Our Laboratory

The primary goal of the Laboratory of Neuropsychopharmacology is to understand the cellular and molecular basis and treatment of complex psychiatric diseases including depression, anxiety disorders and schizophrenia. To address these issues, we use a variety of molecular, cellular, pharmacological and behavioral techniques and laboratory animals and humans.

Dr. Charles B. Nemeroff, M.D., Ph.D. Reunette W. Harris Professor and Chairman ___________ ____________________ __ _ Department of Psychology & Behavioral Sciences

Dr. Nemeroff was born in New York City in 1949 and educated in the New York City Public School System. After graduating from the City College of New York in 1970, he enrolled in graduate school at Northeastern University and received a Master’s degree in Biology in 1973. He received his MD and PhD (Neurobiology) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His residency training in psychiatry was conducted at both the University of North Carolina and at Duke University, after which he joined the faculty of Duke University. Read more...

Dr. Michael J. Owens, Ph.D. Associate Professor, Department of Psychology & Behavioral Sciences_______ Associate Director, Laboratory of Neuropsychopharmacology

Dr. Owens was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1961. After receiving his undergraduate degree in Pharmacy from Duquesne University in 1984, he enrolled in graduate school at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Read more...

Dr. Becky Lee Kinkead, Ph.D.__________________________________Assistant Professor Department of Psychology & Behavioral Sciences

Dr. Kinkead was born in Portland, Oregon in 1968. After receiving her undergraduate degree in Biology from Cornell University in 1990, she enrolled in graduate school at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Read more...
