Peter Ash, MD

Peter Ash, MD, is a forensic child and adolescent psychiatrist and directs both the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Service and the Psychiatry and Law Service at Emory.  He is also the website editor for his department.

Dr. Ash consults on a wide array of both civil and criminal cases involving mental health questions that come before the courts.  His current research focuses on issues of competency restoration in adults and on issues in juvenile delinquency, including adolescent culpability and jail diversion.  Dr. Ash is involved in many professional organizations, and is a Past President of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law and of the Georgia Council on Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.  He is the President-Elect of the Georgia Psychiatric Physicians Association.
