Ambassador Program

We strive to ensure that all new faculty members feel welcome and aim to empower them to thrive in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the School of Medicine. Therefore, we created the Ambassador Program to assist newly hired faculty with their transition to the department and university. By pairing more experienced faculty with new faculty based at the same site and/or with similar interests, we hope to promote each faculty members’ personal and professional development and wellbeing from the outset of their tenure on the faculty.

The Vice Chair for Faculty Development, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Assistant Vice Chair for Faculty Development – New Initiatives will pair each new faculty member with an Ambassador. New faculty and Ambassadors will then be introduced via email.

Ambassador Responsibilities

  • Offer to meet with the new faculty member with the first few weeks of their start date.
  • Provide the new faculty member with contact information and offer to be available via email and phone for questions as they arise.

Recommendations for New Faculty

  • Take the initiative to ask questions and keep in touch.
  • After you gain experience at your site and as a member of the Department, consider serving as an Ambassador for another new faculty member.
