Faculty Development Committee Activities

The Emory Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Faculty Development Committee has a very active portfolio and has engaged in a variety of projects. The following is a summary of completed and ongoing projects. We welcome input on additional projects for the future.

  • Welcome and orient new faculty
    • Annual orientation for new faculty
    • Bagels and brand new faculty social event
  • Develop and update the department Faculty Development Website
  • Create and administer an annual faculty awards program to acknowledge outstanding contributions
  • Coordinate ongoing faculty development programs
    • Quarterly faculty development workshops
    • Monthly writing group
    • Quarterly leadership consultations
  • Develop and coordinate the departmental mentoring program and create documents that can assist in the mentoring process
    • Mentoring guidelines
    • Mentoring toolkit
    • Guidance for supporting the career autonomy of junior faculty to promote scholarship
  • Administer the faculty funds program that supports faculty members’ attendance at conferences and participation in faculty development and other training programs
  • Support the faculty review process and create documents that support this endeavor
