Biography

Dr. Kallio Hunnicutt-Ferguson received her Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Development and Psychology from the University of Georgia and completed her PhD in clinical psychology at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, IL, where her graduate research focused on outcomes of behavioral activation therapy for major depressive disorder. She moved to New York to complete her internship at the VA New Jersey Healthcare System and postdoctoral fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell School of Medicine, where she focused on cognitive behavioral therapy for mood and anxiety disorders, with a specialty in evidence based treatments for PTSD. Most recently, Dr. Hunnicutt worked as the PTSD/Substance Use Disorder psychologist at the James J. Peters VA in Bronx, NY.

Dr. Hunnicutt joined the faculty at Emory University School of Medicine in 2017 and is a clinical psychologist with the Emory Adult Outpatient Services. Dr. Hunnicutt specializes in evidence based treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, with a particular interest in treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and substance use disorders. Her research interests focus on understanding moderators and mediators of cognitive-behavioral treatment outcome for depression, PTSD and substance use disorders.  Dr. Hunnicutt also has a passion for teaching, and supervises residents and psychology practicum students in providing cognitive behavioral therapy.
