Dr. Wingo is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Emory University and a board-certified psychiatrist. She received her medical degree and residency training at Emory University School of Medicine. Subsequently she completed a research fellowship and Master of Science in Clinical Research program also at Emory. Dr. Wingo studies the genetic basis of depression, PTSD, as well as psychological resilience and well-being. In addition, Dr. Wingo investigates molecular mechanisms underlying detrimental effects of depression and protective effects of psychological well-being on dementia risk. As an early-stage investigator, Dr. Wingo has received a research fellowship award from the American Psychiatric Association, a NARSAD Young Investigator award, a VA Career Development Award, and recently three federal grants (R01, U01, Merit) to pursue these lines of research inquiries. Dr. Wingo sees patients at the Atlanta VAMC. She hopes to contribute to efforts in prevention and early detection of dementia and enhancing our resiliency and psychological well-being.
